2. Strong in Identity, Broad in Global Competence
Hong Kong Korean International School is a place where our children’s identity is protected and strengthened. At the same time, it is a school that nurtures the global competence they need to communicate and collaborate confidently in the world.
We aim to help our students take pride in who they are as Koreans, express their thoughts clearly, and respect different cultures. Through an education where Korean and English, knowledge and character, tradition and the future come together in harmony, we will support our children so that they can live confidently in a wider world.
4. Every Child Is a Child of Every Parent
I have always believed that every child is a child of every parent.
We need a heart that looks beyond only our own children and embraces all children as our shared responsibility. The growth of one child is something that must be supported together by the school, the family, and the community.
For a child to grow well, they need a warm classroom, teachers who believe in them, parents who encourage them, and friends who respect one another. When school and home look toward our children with one heart, they can grow with greater warmth and strength.
"I have served as a teacher, vice-principal, and principal for about 35 years in Seoul, Republic of Korea, striving to create schools where students are happy. Furthermore, as the final responsibility in my long career in education, I was appointed as the principal of the Korean International School of Hong Kong. While maintaining my identity as a Korean, I will do my best, along with all faculty and staff, to foster global competencies such as bilingualism."
Dear Parents and Beloved Students,
As the campus is filled with the energy and brightness of this beautiful season, I extend my warm greetings to all members of the Hong Kong Korean International School community.
This year, our school continues to move forward as a joyful place of learning, where our children’s laughter, curiosity, challenges, and growth come together each day.
Every day, our students learn, ask questions, build friendships, and discover their own unique potential through school life. Each small effort and every meaningful step forward becomes part of their growth, and every moment of that growth is truly precious.
Principal Byeong Geun Song
In 2026, let us grow together.
May our children’s roots grow deeper, and may their wings rise higher.
Thank you.
Dear students,
You are the greatest pride and the most precious hope of our school. Believe in yourselves, respect your friends, and enjoy learning. The steps you take today will shape a greater tomorrow.
1. Korean as Our Roots, English as Our Wings
Our children are growing up in the unique international environment of Hong Kong. In this multicultural city, where many languages and cultures coexist, they encounter a wider world every day and grow toward greater possibilities.
Yet the more widely they step into the world, the more important it becomes for them to know who they are and to value their own roots.
I hope our children will grow with “Korean as their roots, and English as their wings.”
Hangul, the Korean language, Korean history, and Korean culture are the roots that help our children stand firmly with confidence. English, along with diverse languages and international experiences, becomes the wings that allow them to soar into the wider world.
The deeper the roots, the higher a tree can grow. The stronger the wings, the farther our children can fly.
3. Every Child Shines in Their Own Way
Our school will continue to cherish each and every child. Every child grows at their own pace and shines in their own color. Some children move forward quickly, while others quietly gather strength and grow in their own time.
What matters most is not comparison, but discovery; not competition, but encouragement.
We will continue to listen carefully to even the smallest changes in our children and nurture the possibilities within them. We will build a warm educational environment where students can believe in themselves, respect their friends, and find joy in learning.
Dear parents,
We sincerely ask for your continued trust and partnership. When school and home support our children together with one heart, they will grow warmer, stronger, and more confident.
5. Let Us Grow Together
In 2026, our school will continue to communicate more closely with parents, walk more closely with students, and work together as one faculty and staff to support the growth of every child.
We will do our utmost to help our students put down strong roots as Koreans and spread their wings confidently toward the world.
